History
PRONTA, Built By Warren Blomfield , started life as a TC racer 'ISK' in the late 50's fitted with Repco Holden engine then the body by JWF it was painted white for the Easter Bathurst races, then Warren had Nota engineering build a space frame chassis no 23 with disc brakes, it raced at the October Bathurst races 1960 painted Red with white stripes. The picture above was taken in late 1960 at the JWF factory.
John Merrick returned the car to competition in 2003, he found it near Bathurst, where it had sit neglected after an altercation with a tree during a hill climb, the front was ripped off from the windscreen forward, its previous owner was Don Lapham. John was a pensioner from Brownfields NSW and rebuilt the car from his pension and a bit of work from Dennis Cooke at Lithgow. He spoke with Warren Many times during the rebuild.
John had previously raced speedway under the name of Johnny Hughes on solo's and midgets [BRM P25 engine] Vauxhall etc.
I swapped John Merrick the Nota Mezangarb in 1975, The rebuild was terrible, I hated the beast, Bob Winley and I repaired 18 cracks in the chassis and in 1977 I realized that it needed more money thrown at it than I was prepared to spend I sold Pronta to a mechanic that worked for Brian Sampson Fritz Norden
