History
Purchased in 2007, last previous registration 1969. The bike was complete and hadn’t been butchered. As I wanted to finish up with a reliable bike for regular riding I undertook a complete strip down and restoration. This was eventually finished in 2010 and it has covered over 4,000 reliable miles (speedometer is calibrated in miles) since then.
Modifications
Other than the turn indicators the bike appears perfectly standard to a reasonably knowledgeable casual observer. However, the electrics in particular have been updated for more reliable operation. Electrical system converted from 6 volt to 12 volt, voltage regulation (previously achieved through switching in additional stator coils in the alternator) replaced with electronic rectifier/regulator unit, contact breaker points in the distributor replaced with magnetic timing pickup, ignition timing replaced with electronic unit and dual (wasted spark) ignition coil. Crankcase breathing valve on the inlet cam shaft replaced with a “Bunn Breather”.
