History
Here is my 1977 Chrysler CL Valiant base model. Bought it with my dad and uncle when I was 15. Have owned the Val for over a year now and have been doing lots of work in it and heaps of cruising!
She's completely original body and interior wise. The 265 Hemi is original but has Pacemaker headers and extractors, 2inch exhaust and then a new radiator that I put in earlier in the year. Brake and suspension wise, Have spent a lot of time and hours fixing all that up. New Front and Rear brakes, All new steering linkages, Upper control arm bushes and ball joints all new. Reconditioned the 2bbl Carter Carbie a few months ago. Sounds unreal now and the fuel economy is great!
Have put in a lot of money and hours into the Val but it's a labour of love to me. I love doing it. Currently restoring the Val piece by piece. Cruising the Val as much as I can before I do the big overhaul on it during the middle of next year. Quite a bit of surface rust and aged paint but that will all be fixed and restored like it rolled off the Factory again and with a bit more power (Holley 350 Carb, Camshaft, lifters and so on).
Interior is pretty well kept but will need some attention with the front drivers seat and the front carpet which I'll be doing. I've been learning a bit about motor trimming so that will be a great project to learn. The Brown Vinyl looks really smart and period correct for this Car and it is really comfortable too!
The Valiant I have was believed to be an ex undercover NSW cop car with the certain engine an interior differences so I'll have to research into that. Really happy with the Val both my Grandfathers had Valiants back in the day and that made me want to get one. The CL is a top car to cruise in and is very comfortable considering the seats are like lounge chairs! Love it!
Thanks for reading guys. Mopar or no car!
Cheers, Josh :)
