History
A true barn find. This car was sitting covered in a dry environment since 1993 when it’s elderly driver parked it and turned it over weekly but never got around to his planned restoration.
The Fiat Lombardi Grand Prix was the vision of aerospace engineer Carrozzeria Francis Lombardi who took Fiat 850s and wrapped them in his own aerodynamic (for the time) steel bodies. Lombardi’s aerospace experience is clear in the clean flowing lines. This is a later production model with the 850 Special engine, with 47 PS (35 kW) at 6400 rpm - in a period German test the maximum speed of the more powerful variant was 153.8 km/h (95.6 mph).
They say only 150 cars were built of this type, spread between Francis Lombardi, Abarth and Giannini. This is a Francis Lombardi version, known as the ‘Grand Prix’.
My plan is to get this (630 kg or 1,390 lb) pocket rocket running sweet, maintaining originality and embracing the patina to create a useable, efficient classic that can be driven and enjoyed
