History
Owned by the family since new, The 202, Column shift auto with Bench seat. The HJ is what got me interested in old Cars. We had a interesting relationship from the start, me being afew months old, was raced to hospital in it through red lights after having convulsions, twice. Sitting on my grandparents knees ' driving ' it down the driveway and always showing an interest in it when ever my Grandfather lifted the hood.
The Kingswood was coming up for registration and failed due to rust, a very happy 18 year old managed to convince his Grandmother that he could fix it even though she wanted to send it to the wreckers.. I would never have that! She still tells me to this day to get rid of it!
As a 18 year old i bogged it up, got it through a rego inspection and used it as my daily driver for around 12 months. We relocated from Sydney to the Central Coast not long after and i have to say i will always remember that drive, the Kingswood loaded up with only enough room for me to sit, both front windows down and cruising on the F3 up the coast..
I started working and my employer at the time wanted a car that was more presentable sitting out the front of the building.. Being a Ford Dealership. They tried selling me a trade in EA Falcon S Pac... I mean really?... Afew days later i rocked up to work in a Gold LX Torana Hatchback. ( Before the prices sky rocketed! )
So the Kingswood was driven into the Garage, rego ran out, gathered dust although i would start it occasionally and take it around the block and thats where she last hit the road. 2004. We have moved houses 4 times since then, making the journey with me every time. She sits as a shell now, awaiting a REAL Garage to work on her in. Something that doesnt resemble a sardine can.
Future plans for her? Rebuild to Original and enjoy the c*** outta it!
I've had alot of cool cars since then, but my Mates always ask me, if i could have any old car what would it be... I tell them i've already got it... its in the Garage!
