History
This 1975 TX Gemini as featured in the Holden Gemini advertisement from 1975 started life pretty simply and ended up hiding in a hay barn in Western NSW.
I originally planned for this to be a full show car, but having a flashy painted car which is enough headaches, I needed something I could drive like a pissed off teenager who's mum had taken their allowance.
So commenced this build. There's currently 15 different Geminis who gave up their working parts to make this what it is today.
Affectionately known as "The Bucket" my little coupe isn't scared on hitting the streets, the skid pan or the track and showing off it's TX specific tail lights and iconic "mint" colour bootlid and fuel flap.
Whether it's snapping necks or diffs my coupe does it all.
My mum can't believe it moves it's that cool.
It's also available for formal drop offs, social gatherings and invading other car clubs meets with it's presence.
Modifications
It's fast and corners, to quote an automotive legend "Heaps Good".
Retains the factory Isuzu (you know the truck company) single cam block with some work done to it which can be identified from the weird induction noises and so on that it makes while driving.
My best mate seems to think it has a non standard cam shaft in it.
I've got a few whiteline stickers on the sway bars I added and a good braking system sourced from a Commodore.
Inside is pretty cool with absolutely no climate control or safety features. We die like real people yeah? The front seats are sourced from the internet and say Sparco on them. Look pretty mad. My mum digs them.
Easily the best modification in this thing is the Stereo. How often have you cruised the race track and gone "I could really go for some Taylor Swift right now?" Well my friends, I can! It features an Apline in car DVD player. I've got some mad speakers in the back as well so I can sing along to 'Shake it Off" just like Taylor Swift!
I will humble brag for a moment though. I've been fortunate enough to have been given a set of BBS wheels as seen in the pics. My mate Matt had them on his BMW but said they would suit the coupe more. How good do they look? The fortunate bit is I've got some wicked light wheels with semi slicks as well. Which means I can go to the track and 'go hard son'.
Well that's about it really. It does have a sweet genuine momo wheel on it and a monster tacho from the 90s to tell me how many revs the things doing and for some reason flashes the light at the number 8.
