History
Had the motor that featured in the 1600 Ford GT Cortina for a while and later the Ford Escort. A downdraft Weber carburettor was one of the selling points. I modified mine with an additional battery and additional driving lights for a Nullabor crossing for my 1971 honeymoon. The lights were on a light weight front bar. I carried extra tyre cases on a light roof rack.
We struck rainy weather and muddy roads at Ivy Tanks on the return journey and were lucky to see anything out of the side windows
Modifications
I had regular issues of broken diodes in the alternator, creating charging issues. I had an additional battery under the bonnet
