History
This Iso Lele was owned by me from 1980 and sold in 1995 to Richard Michelle of Dee Why. I purchased it from the original Owner - Dennis Wolanski of Darling Point. When I purchased it, it was painted an off white colour with tan leather interior. This Lele was quire rare in having a factory fitted electric sunroof - which I believe were an obscenely expensive factory option. During my ownership I had it fully stripped back to bare metal, all the (very predictable) Italian rust cut out and then repainted Ford Monza Red with the interior replaced with cream leather and cream carpets. The interior retrim consumed nine full hides! During this restoration rear headrest were fitted using a pair of bare Lele front headrest frames I was able to procure. During the stripping of the off white paint we discovered that the original (factory) colour was a turquoise blue. Not a particularly attractive colour which was possibly why it was repainted by the original Owner.
I believe the original purchase price in Feb. 17 1971 was in the order of $32K - a considerable sum in those days
Being chassis No.17 it was Chev (Corvette spec.) powered with a Turbo400 auto gearbox - very few were 5 speed manuals. During my ownership I was a member of the Iso Bizzarinni Owners Club (IBOC) of America and had the pleasure of meeting Giotto Bizzarinni at the 1990 IBOC annual Concourse held at Quale Lodge to coincide with the 1990 Pebble Beach Concours. this was a fabulous experience together with the Laguna Seca classic races.
Concurrent with that trip I also met various Iso Owners in Italy, Germany and England plus the east coast of USA.
This is only a snippet of my ownership experience but I would be more than happy to share all of my ownership details and knowledge with the current Owner to possibly fill in any "gaps" he (or she) may have.
To me this Lele was extremely special and only on sold because of the (possibly ever predictable) divorce.
