History
This is my Willys MB jeep, it was manufactured on 13 November 1942 in Toledo in the USA at the Willys Overland factory in the early stages of WW2. Im still awaiting further history from various ibternational organisations on who this particular jeep served with as many records were destroyed post war.
I purchased this jeep in Dec last year, i always had a strong desire to own one. Since then ive done the following;
-new thermostat
-replaced many gaskets
-new exhaust
-new hoses for radiator and intake
-rebuilt all wheel hubs and axles, bearings, seals
-rebuilt brakes, new shoes, lines etc.
-rebuilt the steering box
-rebuilt starter motor
-rebuilt regulator
-rebuilt generator
-new battery
-4 new tyres, tubes
-full hand sand and repaint for ANZAC DAY 2016.
As my first project and not being a mechanic me and my mrs have learnt a lot over the recent months, but driving WW2 vets around in it on Anzac day made it totally worth it.
My future plans include;
-full re-wire, new harness
-full engine and gearbox rebuild
-new canvas and seats
-machine gun mount and machine gun
-battle accessories
-and many more little things.
Its the funnest car ive owned and driven; it takes me to work, to shows, away on weekends with my mrs in everthing from camping and country drives to outdoor cinemas and dinner dates. Once complete we plan to use it as our wedding car. Next will be a tank to accompany it.
Cheers
