History
This is the story of our beetle called "Minion"
I bought this beetle as a roller in need of a fair bit of work for my daughter Alexis who is 8 years old, it took me the best part of a year to find a descent one. she has always loved VW Beetles and I was lucky enough to be able to get her one that we can all enjoy as a family until she gets her drivers licence and gets to keep it.
I figured with the way the cost of classic cars are going it was a good idea to get her one sooner rather then later when they are even harder to find and even more expensive and out of reach of most people.
The great thing about it is we can drive it anywhere and drive it into any old car meet and it fits right in
Modifications
It's 1961 Beetle with 17"Empi raiders which we had sent from America.
the only body mods are a the removal of the popes nose from the decklid and the hole in the decklid welded up, the rear plate is fitted to the bar and both bars have been dropped down a couple of inches to give it a smoother lower look. it has one piece electric front power windows with the quarter glass removed.
I also set up fully custom electric air conditioning which is all hidden.
The motor is a fairly basic 1600 twin port with a 110 cam and twin 40mm webers (the engine pic was when it had the single weber), It also has the alternator rewound up to 120 amps to keep the air con running without any voltage problems
