History
I purchased this 1936 R4 in April 2022 from a deceased estate via dealer in Strathalbyn, SA. The bike left the factory on March 25th, 1936 and went to J.R. Taylor in Adelaide. The bike's registration last expired in 1978. I am unsure as to when the bike was restored, however it appears the previous owner undertook an extensive restoration of both mechanical parts and the tin work, though with some unoriginal parts.
Modifications
The bike has seen a handlebar swap to a clubman style bar, and also features non-original toolboxes on the rear fender - they appear to be from a 1937-1939 model BSA of some sort. The front fender is also unoriginal. The front girder fork may be original, but is so it appears to have been repaired at some point with a stay running from the wheel hub and a sleeve on the lower part of the fork. The paint is very nice however not original - the R4 appears to have only come in chrome/green from the factory.
