History
My A2 Bedford was pulled out from a paddock approximately 8 years ago, where it had been laid to rest after a hard life as a local wood carting workhorse.
My vision with this build was to pay homage to the toughness and grit that the Bedford brand was renowned for throughout farms across Australia.
Modifications
Keeping with the original chassis, it has a 150mm zee notch to bring the truck lower to the ground, chassis has been boxed and cross bracing and tail shaft loop added.
Front suspension consists of a full custom IFS front end, with willwood discs, rear suspension consist’s QA1 coil overs with a custom 4 link rear end into a Currie soft shoulder diff, complete with a strange diff center.
Driving all of this is a 540 cubic inch Dart Chev big block, topped with a blower shop 8/71 blower, pushing into a full manual turbo 400 transmission, 31/2” chrome molly tail shaft.
A 3” custom stainless steel exhaust expels spent gases behind the diff.
The Furphy tank contains the 80 liter fuel cell which is filled from the top of the tank by removing the Furphy lid.
To make access easier to the fuel point an early plough step has been added to the rear of the chassis.
I’ve tried to incorporate some iconic Australian farm items as a subtle nod to our farmers who I believe along with our diggers shaped our amazing country.
