purchase this Sydney car 5 years ago as a project (photo is as purchased). I really wanted a HQ sandman ute but just could not find one and after some time came across this HJ. It had been re-painted and someone made it up to be a GTS ute (as it has all the same equipment apart from some badges). The ID plates, features and original paint shows it to be an original 1975 HJ sandman ute with desirable engine (308), gearbox (M21) and colour combination (mandarin red with black interior). I have started the restoration this year and stripped the car back to bare metal. The car had plenty of filler used (why, I don't know?) and underneath was a remarkably good rust free body. All panel work has been completed and one RHS guard required replacing due to a previous bad repair. The nose cone had been replaced and the grille was not the genuine black plastic. Car was completed but unfortunately i never got the chance to drive it. I had to relocate for work and couldnt take it with me.
