This 1965 Ford Falcon XP Sedan has been through a full ground up restoration with some tasteful modifications and upgrades. The current owner purchased the car three years ago however the build was completed by the previous owner over a number of years, being completed in 2011. The car has always been well kept since the restoration and has only travelled 11,000 miles since it was finished.
Starting with the body, it has been stripped back to bare metal and fully repainted in its original colour of Artic White by Waddington Street Rod and Restoration centre in Victoria. The owner opted for clean and simple in the looks department, because that never goes out of style. All of the chrome and trim on the car was either refinished or replaced. All new rubbers and seals were used throughout and the car was fitted with all new tinted glass. To complete the look externally, the car sits on a set of polished, 15” Dragway wheels.
Inside the car has been refinished to match the outside. Starting with the floor, Dynamat insulation was put down before new carpets were fitted from Knox Auto Carpets. Likewise, the headliner has been fully refinished. The dash is neatly restored and features new switches and the original restored steering wheel. The bench seats front and rear are finished in their original Camel colour and have been fitted with colour coded, retractable lap sash belts with period buckles. For tunes while cruising there is a Sony aftermarket Bluetooth headunit hidden away neatly in the glove box.
Open the bonnet and you will find the original 6 banger has now been replaced with a 302ci Windsor V8 supplied as a brand-new crate engine through Eagle Auto Parts. The engine features a new 650 Holley Carburettor. The engine is paired to a fully reconditioned C4 automatic transmission. Power is fed to the rear wheels through an 8” Borg Warner differential. Exhaust gasses escape through a set of extractors into a dual exhaust system. The brakes have been upgraded to include XF Falcon discs up front with drums in the rear and remote booster mounted under the front guard. The front and rear suspension are refurbished factory items. The battery has been relocated to the boot and the car has been fitted with an immobiliser for security.
The car has been fully engineered for Victorian registration as well as mod plated for QLD. Since Completion in 2011, the car has only travelled 11,000 miles. This XP has been through an extensive restoration and while being kept timeless in its styling has some fantastic drivability and performance upgrades.
