History
After a Life on Sports bikes I decided to age gracefully (not) and buy something I have wanted since 1986... A first generation VMax. I bought an American import a few nice things done. But then decided to bring it into the modern age to make it more usable. After alot of investigation I found an Acewell Dash that fit into the original housing like it was made to go there, then rewire the thing to gain all the nice extras. Fuel tank out and added a sender to get a fuel gauge, replaced the cable speedo with a Hall sensor but used the original drive. This gave me a nice big digital speedo, shift light, gear indicator, temp, fuel, volts, service reminders and a bunch of other stuff. The Vmax only came with an oil level light so I also added an oil pressure sensor and small 30mm digital pressure gauge too. On the cosmetic side I changed the colour from an ordinary pale blue, to a colour I've always loved... Aston Martin Meteorite silver. Added a Seat back for my wife and a sculpted Pack rack for stylish practicality. I converted all the lights to smoked lenses and the Headlight to HID. Mechanically it has been converted from coils to Coil on plug units, upgrade Rec Reg, new Brake and clutch masters, Hyabusa 6 pot front brakes, rear set billet foot controls (Throw back to my sports bikes), Japanese Frame bracing, wider handlebars, and a nice set of quality designer mirrors. It came to me with the 5in Supertrapp exhausts and headers done already (Exceedingly pricey and excellent system) I have just added extra plates to get it flowing better.
Soon I will do an engine out purely so I can repaint it to fix a few little blemishes and code all the gold parts to the same Meteorite Grey I painted the panels
Phwew...
Anyway it is a pleasure to ride now and rider aids wise doesn't feel its age anymore. It hit 25 years old this year (2019) So will probably move to Club rego next renewal.
This is one I will never sell, I just love it to much. When the Vboost kicks in at 6000rpm it puts a teenage sparkle back in my eye.
