Bought in 1982 from a bloke who had it in a paddock - boot full of water!
$350 later drove it home!
Repainted and repaired - drove for 12 years before more repairs needed. Converted to V8 in 1997 - took 6 months to get all the parts together - put it together in 4 weeks with help of young daughters (12 & 9 yo). Repainted in 2000 with major repairs to sills and doors (zinc annealed steel).
Converted to gas dual fuel and has now done over 600,000kilometers since 1982.
Drive nearly every week, saving the BA Falcon for work only since it now has 260000+kms.
Latest upgrade 15inch alloys (Yokohama 225 R60 rubber) from 1970's era - had sat in a warehouse for many years - swapped my three alloys for the four plus new tyres.
2013/2014 Well the steering has become a challenge and the wheel aligners at Bob Jayne are complaining about the problem! So I bit the bullet and ordered a new steering box from GrandTourer and this Xmas I started stripping her down. See my blog for the photos and full story.

Today Rare Spares delivered my new wiring for the steering column - a long weekend job!
Ok all done! It’s July and steering all upgraded and serviced! Handles like new once again!
Finished interior this week - new headlining in, carpet, redoing seat covers, boot carpet, all rust inside treated and removed painted! Rear windscreen back in and just fitting trim before family wedding in September.
Did not cost too much thanks to rare spares and ebay!
2020 and preparing for respray soon. Dealing with minor dents etc and any defects in panels in preparation.
Have worked out that the car is a very late build for the XT series as it actually had some XW parts on the car causing consternation to one mechanic when we had trouble with the safety cutoff switch on the C4.
Modifications
Accel Electronic Dizzy and coil. LPG Carby, Holley 500, RRS Stage 2 Coil over shocks vented slotted discs, Pacemaker headers, upgraded bucket seats 1994 Fairlane, upgraded seatbelts, LED globes for brakes lights, indicators. Remote central locking, T-bar C4 fitted. New LED Driving lights
spot and wide beam fitted 2019.
2014 I decided to gut the interior and replace carpets and headlining. Rewired stereo and some of dash. New steering box and pitman arm, idler arm. New carpet in boot and. LPG tank tested and certified for 10 year check.
