My first car was the lovely 78 VW Golf. It was the biggest lemon on the planet. It had hinky electrics that would conk out mid drive and leave me with nothing but head lights - nothing like fiddling with fuseboxes as you drive along. It also broke down a lot and stalled - I once had to roll start it backwards down a hill, and got pushed started once outside a nightclub by a group of bikers and a cab diver. It put me off VW's for life.
