I when looking for a series one VT holden ten years ago and wanted a early build car because they were the last HSV with the Holden V8 fitted.
I eventually found this car which the owner said was a show car ? , which is why the all badges and decals and interior was not correct for a normal HSV. I knew it was special but had no idea at the time why it would have been built .
I traced the original first owner in Victoria down (competition winner) who comfirmed it was a one off build for the 1998 Australian Grand Prix that HSV had given away when Peter Brock had been over seeing that years event , after just leaving full time touring car racing only months before.
When I gatthered all the details I could on the car I then spoke to HSV head office and after originally HSV not remembering the car or its mods on first call , a second call with photos attached this time comfirmed for them it was indeed a special build car and changes were carried out in house at HSV and is now know as the F1 pack one of one build.
Peter Brock started the campaign "Holden V8 til 98" back in the 1980s when holden looked like dropping the V8 from their car range as Ford had already done at the time from all there Aussie models.
As turned out Peter got is wish and also oversaw this car being given away at the F1 Grand Prix on the 8th March 1998 , which was the last full year of engine production for the last real Austrialian V8 he helped keep alive for all those years before.
Thanks Peter
