History
It wasn't meant to get so wild. I started when I was 16 and it just sort of got out of hand. It took me 4 years to finish the car, most of it waiting to save up for the next thing. However the paint and bodywork was finished by the time I was 17. Dad (who not into cars at all and cant understand all the fuss) help do all the minor body mods and then I had it professionally paneled as I wanted it mirror straight. Then for some weird reason I decided I would paint the car myself and do a wild graphics paint job on it. This was back in the late 80's so there wasn't a lot of other stuff around like this and especially in WA. I painted in my next door neighbours std single car shed on weekends when dad could bring home the compressor from work and the weather was suitable at the same time, so it took me nearly 12 months to paint the car from start to finish. There is no tape on the car, it was all done in Candy paints either custom mixed or off the the shelf colours. I then had an skilled coach pin striper do the pin stripping between the colours for me before i applied the clear coat. My brother-in-law who was a motor vehicle trimmer at the time helped me retrim the front Recaros and we custom made the back seat to look two Recaros custom fitted into the rear area. It was very cool and something we hadn't seen before. Not saying it hadnt been done before we just hadnt seen it. I had a lot of trouble early on t=with the car running to hot with all the chrome and paint on the engine and had to run it in methanol which was an absolute nightmare. Eventually though found someone who was a genius on jetting downdraught webbers and he got it running cool on petrol. After 8 first place trophies and a Runner up in Custom Paint at Car Spectacular in Perth (my most proud achievement with the car as it was my first paintjob, 6years of finished ownership and only 1300kms on the clock I traded it in on my first block of land and not only got all my money back but actually made money, so I consider myself extremely fortunate.
