History
I purchased this in early 2010 as a stock Standard VE SSV 60th Anniversary edition from Commenwealth motors. I purchased it with 48000ks on the clock and it was originally owned and used by the Holden rep, at Holden.
I then purchased it as the rep had changed up to a brand new clubsport.
I used it as a daily for many years and has seen many roads around Australia, and currently has 196000ks on it, which isnt bad for a car thats seen 14 year's now. It has become very sentimental to me as it was the last car i ever got to drive my daughters around in until I lost them back in 2016. I eventually purchased another car as a daily so I could slowly work on this and not have to worry about needing it as a daily driver.
Over that time the name Jinx has now become its permanent name, due to everything I've done to it has taken 3 or more attempts to either make it work or just achieve it in general even thou when changing things they were suppose to fit or work the first time, Haha yeah right. And it's black, so the name suits with its history now.
I've done most of the work myself, apart from the internals of the motor, but the rest of it I did myself not just to save money but I love learning and spending time on it.
It's been a slow build and certainly isn't quick like most things out there these days, as turbo, and superchargers are on nearly everything now. One day I plan to force induct it, but living on a single wage, and only renting doesn't leave much money in the pocket so it takes time to save and do it right.
I have many more plans for it, and have no plans to sell it. I think with its current history now, it won't be going anywhere.
I nearly a few times prior to 2016 as I was thinking of getting a HSV model, either a GTS, or a Clubsport, but due to the sad event that happened in 2016 im glad I didn't now.
Cars can be replaced, but Memories can't.
And this car holds alot of those now.
Modifications
The current mods I've done to it are..
Window tint 15%
Black micro suede to the lower part of the dash, including side panels of the console.
GTS gauge pod.
Kenwood upgrade of stereo which includes Rockford foscate speakers all round, upgraded all the wiring, dynamat the whole car.
Rockford foscate twin subs in parcel shelf as I still wanted access to my spare wheel.
Alpine type R digital amps, 2 channel and a 4 channel.
Stinger cap, and upgraded battery to keep it all running lol. All lights inside and out have been changed to LEDs.
Suspension is Koni shocks, adjustable, with lowered Lovell springs, Whiteline swaybars front and rear. Whiteline strut brace.
Upgraded brakes to Bembo 4 pots all round with T3 Clubspec rotors, wheels are FR1 Simmons.
I had the brembos done silver as I've wanted to keep the car a black and silver theme. The rear swing arms, and swaybars have all been painted the same colour silver as the brembos.
Motor is still the original L98 6 litre, but has the following.
VCM Cam, moly rods, ARP studs, High Volume oil pump, new timing chain and cogs, Heads have been ported and polished and matched with the exhaust, which is 4 into 1 Pacemaker headers, into 100cell Stainless high-flow Cats, into a 2 and a half Stainless system. Probably should have gone a 3inch, but may do that later.
Aeroflow polished fuel rail with braided line and proflow connectors, Aeroflow power steering reservoir, Holley polished rocker covers, MSD leads,
It's also now running a custom Gilmer drive setup, made from all billet alloy from Enhanced Automotive in Melbourne.
VCM OTR and K&N filter, K&N oil Filter.
Brandnew heavy duty radiator,
Gearbox is still the original 6 speed Auto, 6L80E but has been rebuilt to eventually hold a bit more power, and installed a black and silver RipShift.
Diff is a Harrop trutrac with 3.9 gears.
I think that's about it really. The body is still all original paint and looks. Though I have had the grill changed to the letterbox grill.
And I've also got personal number plates which read VE 008. Plain and simple, as its a VE, 2008 model. Every part I've changed out, I've kept all the original parts that came off it, so still got it all, including the original Super sport wheels.
Future plans would be to super charge it with a Harrop 2650, by doing that I will get Enhanced to send me a new belt and extra pulley so I can keep the Gilmer drive setup with the blower, which had already been planned for when purchasing this setup, and keep it all under the bonnet.
As for interior I don't plan to change it much from stock as I want it to remain the way it was when I had my daughters in it.
I am thinking of changing out the Rockford speakers thou to Focal speakers.
I may even add a Group A style hood scoop to it later for some better ventilation, but ill purchase another bonnet and do it all to that one, then I can keep the original as is. Don't really want to change the look from the original as I think everyone does all the same sort of bolt ons or stick ons the body, think I'd like to keep it the way it came from factory.
Well I think that's about it for that, I'm sure you will get some amazing cars with tons more money spent on them than this ol girl.
I thank you for your time, and am very happy to apart of the Shannons family, I've got both my cars and home contents all insured with you guys, and have no plans to move.
I wish you all the best and take care out there.
Glen Green.
