History
I bought the International D1110 ute from a farmer near Bredbo NSW about 1989. It originally had a six cylinder International engine & a ute back. Now has tray body with a v8 running on petrol / lpg. Was given the AT4/329 Dodge in exchange for towing a friends own dodge project.
Modifications
Truck is combination of a 1972 International D1110 (cabin & front & rear axles) & an AT4 Doge (engine & gearbox). The truck now has three LPG tanks which carry 227 (useable) litres of lpg fuel plus petrol. Found an excellent tray body from a VW transporter (crashed & written off) with drop sides & ladder racks, which I adapted to the Dodge chassis. Fitted LED lights all around including 2 x 18 LED Great White driving lights. Built tow bar with electric winch for pulling cars etc; onto my tri-axle car trailer. Also fitted dual circuit brake master cylinder & a second booster & then modified brake lines to suit. Now very happy to have 4 wheel disc brakes which don't fade like drums .
Have fitted " knee chiller" air con unit to left side cabin.
Made or adapted all engine pulleys to run twin 13mm fan belts for air con & alternator.
Have good size lockable tool cabinet bolted on left side front of tray with room for jack etc; 3 jerry cans, a full tool kit , wet weather gear & other stuff. CB radio & CD player (My wife Anne likes her music). Have fitted Garmin Dezl GPS with add on reversing camera. Also have Visiondrive event camera with front & rear camera.
This year finally got fed up battling the steering in tight spots! With good advice I located a power steering box out of Toyota LN106/ 1988 Hilux. The pitman arm on this vehicle moves forward & back. Not side to side.
Many hours later< Make mountings to chassis, shorten original steering column, create linkage from column to box via 2 uni joints & make suitable mountings etc; for the pump.
While I was at it I made & fitted 7degree castor plates to "I" beam. The ute was tracking very badly! Much improved now.
