History
Whilst in the Detroit, USA on business in 2014 I chose to visit the Ford Rouge Plant and the Museum, the last vehicle on exiting a 'Baby Bird' 1955 Thunderbird. On my last day in Detroit I inspected one in a warehouse in Livonia out of Detroit, made an offer and made my way to board a flight home. At the airport I received a call of acceptance of my offer, the next step saw the car shipped home to me in Australia. I chose the full frame restoration process with restorer in Geelong over 2 years approx to complete. Replacement parts were secured from the USA and locally in Australia to original specification, a 12 volt system fitted plus many other refurbishment aspects of dashboard covering, carpets etc... In November 2016 the 'Bird' was a feature in Issue 193 of Cruizin Magazine, some photos attached done by Greg Forster of Caprice Auto Photography. The 'Bird' is a big part of the family now and enjoyed on regular drives, tours and car show visits.
Modifications
The only addition to the standard specification was the 12 volt system, a brake booster unit and anti-theft technology. Other items are above in the general story.
