History
This is a 1972 HQ Kingswood Preston Motors 60th Anniversary edition. The car started its first year of its life as an executive vehicle for Luxaflex in Tullamarine. Once the 12 months was up, my father-in-law bought the car from the company and used it as a daily driver and work horse until October 2015. At that point I gave him my old Commodore (VX) and he wanted this car to be restored for my son - his only grandson who was 8 years old at the time!!
As a Preston Motors edition, it came in a very different colour and options. Basically the colour is a Preston Motors Beige. It was only painted on cars in the 60th Anniversary Guise. In 1972 there were approximately 9 Preston Motors Dealerships of which it is suspected that each dealer got one of these vehicles each. This car was presented at the Essendon Dealership in 1972 until registered on 31st January 1973. It also came with a partial HQ Statesman interior. By Partial I mean that half the back rest of the seats were vinyl and the other half cloth, but it was the same cloth used in the HQ statesman and LS Monaros. It also came with Carpeted floors and an updated Milux radio installed by the dealer. It also came with Premier wheel Rings, Premier Drivers door Mirror, Belmont Dash, body mouldings and dimming rear view mirror.
It also has a 202 High Compression Engine with a Trimatic stuck to the back of it.
The restoration was completed in December 2020.
