History

Ahhh the origins of my love of roadsters but this story has alot of things to so let dive into it. By the time 2022 came around my life was starting to change big time which meant that some of the creature comforts i was use to had to change since i was becoming an adult. One of them was to get a job, which yeah I wasn't keen on but my parents made it final so they helped me look for one. also at this time I had gotten back into being a car lover after spending nearly 10 or 12 years away from the car scene. At this time i was hellbent on getting a car and at first I saw a vovlo for sale which was on sale for $900 but this was a sus car and I had to move on. A few weeks past and I got A job at Woolies (Woolworths) working the deli. I was happy to finally get a job that would help me out in everyday means. By the time I was in the swing of things I had already had my eyes on some cars I liked, that being Subaru WRX GC8, SAAB 900 Turbo, Ford Capri and even a Triumph Spitfire. To say they were all really not choices as a first car was a understatement. Then my dad recommended me a Mazada Miata/MX-5, at first I told him that they were slow cars (How wrong I was). But at least now I had a car goal. After a few months working and selling off some items (that I'm in the process of buying back due to regret) I had made around $13,000 and I was still looking for a Miata when this model a 1999 Mk2 pre-facelift NB Mx-5 popped up in Mentone. So as one does I got onto my dad and asked him if he could do some inquiring since he's good at that stuff and he was able to get into contact with the owner who seemed to be a young school teacher who had the car over Covid (so nearly 2 years). So a week later we went down had a look at the car and there were some things that wanted to make sure about like weather I fit in it and what it was like in person. Besides a rather large patch on the fender nothing was out of the ordinary (Oh how wrong I would be), So we told the guy that we would have the car looked at by Redbooks which agreed to and so a time and date were set and I waited for the Redbook results. The results came back that the car was decent but needed a small service before hand, after that news I told dad that I would jump on it and buy it. So I got all my money together we went down to this guys house paid him and there and then we had the car. The first week of owning it was great and felt I had really completed a major dream goal. But then things started to go down hill, For one the car had a alarm that when ever we put a cover over it the alarm would off (especially at 1am at night), then the transmission was twitchy at best and so on big drives there were moments where if my elbow touch the lever it would go into neutral and finally the engine started to lose bits and fall apart and it had a kill switch which cause a few breakdowns towards the end of the cars life. All those problems lead to it being in a mechanic more than being on a road. But besides that I was able go to many place that I still drive today such The annual Summer Great Ocean Road Day Ride, The Kinglake country drive route, Yarra Bend (Once my enemy) and Many other places. But all Good things have to come to an End and that for me was on Easter Sunday 2023. On this day I had a Easter Dinner to attend to so I got dressed and headed out to Patterson lake. I got there the party was s*** so I told my parents that I was going to head out for a drive and that's what I did. I drove along the bay road and up to Yarra bend where I kept on thinking that I was going to slip and crash but it never happend at the Bend but... As I got to my street this is where it all went to s***. As I came up to the intersection to turn, I turned out and at that moment my back tires spun out and I had only realized that some out of state Twats had parked a MG SUV a foot away the gutter so I had two options crash in the back of this out of state car and have angry neighbor who already don't like me or just crash my car and take a L. So I turned the car toward the footpath where a tree was so that the car could collide with the tree and take the brunt of it But car hit the curb with such force that I hit the window and roof as it hit the first tree and curb the car continued down the path hitting the bigger tree making me hit the steering wheel and finally I landed on other footpath across the way where the neighbor had put new lawn down a month earlier and that's where the car landed. To say I was pissed would be an understatement, Long short of it I went to back up to my house (which was 15 meters away) called my parent who were drunk saying and they were pissed and just I was going back down to the car Highway patrol rocked up. I did a breath test (I was sober) and explained that the rain, tiers being on their last leg, Rain and the SUV Being park like a jackass contributing to the scene in front of them. One of the cops were chill while the other was a F****** C*** who kept getting shitty with me and my dad and at one point told my dad that he "didn't have to tell me how to do my job" even though what he was saying was valid. Eventually tow truck came and took the green machine away and me and the family had a chat (Also we only got message of concern and well wishes while most of everyone else saw me as a hoon which is f***** but OK) But at the end of the day the car was on it last legs and probably would ended up in a scrap yard anyway. And so Life moved on I got on with UNI and work an eventually got a better Miata so maybe everything did work out.
