History
On October the 8th, I completed the biggest life goal of all the dream car. Even after thinking of buying a MX-5 NA, Subaru WRX GC8, Subaru Forester SG5 even TR6, as they say in highlander there can only be one and that one was and is the MGB. Since I was little boy I love every classic car old American muscle, European classics and JDM Heros but I always had a massive soft spot for the British Roadster especially the MGB. It was a staple of the Saturday and Sunday drives my dad took me on in the old white Subaru forester along Bayside road you would see about 5 to 6 maybe 10 in the summer and they were abundant and I would say to myself someday I'll have one someday. After nearly 4 years working my a*** off at woolies (Woolworths) buying miata's, crashing then re-buying them I finally made a decision that would make it final. After listening to Do You Believe in Magic by The Lovin' Spoonful I decided to go for a old British Roadster. After looking for a Spitfire, My dad told me that the MGB was the way to go and after 7 months of looking this beauty popped up. It was a '65 model year, it had original dash, Wheel, seats even the engine bay had it original stickers (mainly the one on the SU CARBS). After a redbook inspections in which the guy told us it was the best mgb he had seen out of the five he had looked at me and my dad made a offer as we came back from the gold coast after seeing grandparent. Once we touched back in Melbourne we got the news the car was mine. Although it took two more weeks to get the car it was worth it and to now see this dream vehicle with the MIATA and being 21 and completing this goal I'm more than ecstatic and can not wait to make dream and memories with this car for many years to come.
Modifications
None at this current time But maybe in the future.
(Futrue Mods)
- Adding all gear syncro transmission to make the car livable. Options are a 4 speed snycro with overdrive from a mk2 MGB or a 5 speed Miata gearbox.
- Exhuast system/tip from time period, looking putting on a vintage exhaust for that bit of class. Hopefully a ANSA exhuast tip or a Full Abarth Exhaust system should be available out there.
- License Plate, Changing it over to a Victorian EURO plate for cool points.
- Radio head unit, since old one has long bitten the dust.
