History
Listing this vehicle under "Austin" rather than "Austin-Healey" was deliberate.
For the uninitiated, the Austin Sprite name was created as of January 1971 when Leyland Bean Counters (having correctly observed that Donald Healeyâs arrangement with them was more of a handshake and less of a concrete contract) ceased payments of Consultantâs Fees/Royalties to the Healey family; the Healey name was dropped from the front and rear badges and the Car/Chassis prefix became AAN 10 rather than HAN 10. 1022 vehicles were produced between Jan 1971 and July 1971, when the Sprite name was dropped altogether; the Midget name of course remained until 1978.
Please ignore the winged Austin-Healey bonnet badge in the photo as this was taken when I first acquired the car; after searching the World for some time, I was able to obtain the correct round "Austin Sprite" badges for the centre of the grille and for the boot.
