Purchased the bike in 1982 for $850.00. Took it for a ride and found I was spraying my brother-in-law behind in oil. The bike had no power and was struggling and vibrating badly, but still going. Took it home and commenced a full rebuild. Farmed out the crankcases and bottom end to an engine re-builder in Sydney.Apart from the paint I did the rest myself. Once on the road I couldn’t keep head gaskets up to it and after number 6 I informed the machinist that I wanted the head and the barrels machined. He told me the barrels would be fine because they were cast iron and wouldn’t be warped, I asked him to humour me! Guess what it fixed the problem, The harmonic balancer that came out of the bike was a mess with holes drilled into it then welded over and more drilled somewhere else in an attempt to balance the motor, obviously it didn’t work. Over the years I have had the magneto and carbie rebuilt and although the bike is not genuine it’ has done okay by me for the past 33 years.
