History
Bought as my first road car in 1964 just before I joined BMC........ Even though it had so much rust for a six year old car, blew smoke out of the breather, and had no handling to speak of, I loved it. We all love our first cars, not matter what evil things they do to us and we do to them. Handling improved when I put radials on it, but I was getting used to driving Minis and Morris 1100s, so it was traded for a 1966 Austin 1800, which again I loved. Many a clenched buttock episode when sliding along Melbourne's tram tacks in the wet - once into the back of a '56 Customline. No damage to either. Was there ever an FE or FC in those days without its boot lid propped open with a broom-stick?
To me, it's my favourite Holden, bar none...... GVC 055 - where are you now?
Modifications
Black wheels, a Neptune Racing Sticker and gallons of Kill-rust. Seat belts to stop sliding along the Elascofab to the passenger door and dampen the trampoline effect (my Mum made me put them in....)
