Bought from a friend who kitted it out for his family fo 3 only to discover the wife was pregnant again, so had to opt for a dual-cab. The canopy has 120W solar panel, 62L water tank, slide out fridge, gun safe, awning and spotlighting hatch. The car has dual batteries with RedArc manager, LR tanks 176L, o/head console, UHF radio, replaced the radio with a Clarion digital head unit, new custom leather bucket seats going in Mar/2020, Warne 12,000lb winch, Spotlights, bullbar and towbar, reversing floodlight and camera, currently wearing Cooper STTs, and recently fitted with fuel pre-filter and oil catch can.
14/6/19 filled up at local Shell servo,115L diesel fuel.
17/6/19 drove to Melbourne & noticed was leaving a little smoke at the lights? Didn't drive it again til 21/6/19 to pick up pizza. Filled the street with smoke.
22/6/19 emptied the fuel filter - 100ml fluid contained 20ml water! Showed it to Shell servo, they said get quotes, email to this address, blah blah. Not one reply from 5 emails.
25/6/19 Car taken to Wonthaggi Toyota. quoted $6,000 to clean out and replace injectors.
27/6/19 call from W/Toyota, now $16,000 - 3 injectors stuck in the heads. I said I could buy a brand new donk for that sort of cash.
29/6/19 handballed it to APIA. They had it taken to Cheltenham Vehicle Inspections. They said $13,300 to replace the injectors. Mind you I had just paid $1122 to W/Toyota for cleanout and work done already, so real difference was around $1600.
More than 5 months passed before I got it back with a brand new crate motor in it. Paid $17,300 + $469 cartage to buy from Sydney Toyota dealer. Final cost $21,181 .... me $6,500 out of pocket, but I have a new donk with 3yr warranty.
Soon the canopy will be dismantled and go in for sandblasting and repowdercoating, then new seats go in, then some alterations to the fridge cabinet to accommodate a drop-down fridge slide (I can barely see into the fridge with a straight-pull slide).
In a year's time we will hook up a new caravan and become grey nomads.
