History
This poor old Imperial LeBaron was parked up 20 years with a seized 440 engine. I basically came along and rescued it. Sleeping in a dark barn located in Ohio USA, I looked at this over the 2018 & 2019 years. Then I decided to buy the car, and now I am so glad that I did. This is a LeBaron car - not a Crown. There were only around 1800 of these made, which is a tiny production number for Detroit. It has dual factory Air Conditioning units, one in front dash, the 2nd unit in the trunk under the rear parcel shelf. I do not have the Air Conditioning system working in this car.
The LeBaron comes with front cornering lamps, a smaller "limo" type rear screen for rear privacy, Power steering, tilt steering column with telescopic adjustment, Sentinel lighting on an adjustable pot control giving you from 5 seconds through to around 3 minutes, Cruise control, power windows, power 1/4 vent glass, and 2 powered front seats with passenger recline.
The door trims are accented by solid chrome plated die-cast, sprung pull handles, cigarette lighters in each door, courtesy lights, and bronze metal plate door inserts. The car also has a factory speaker in each door (rare feature for 1968) an AM-FM radio with Opera room amplifier behind the back seat.
I have invested in this car quite sufficiently. The front disc brakes are 4 piston and have HUGE callipers. See the picture. This car stops like anything new these days - apart from no anti-lock brakes. Imperial introduced those in 1971. The 440 has been rebuilt, the 727 Torque Flite is perfect, the cooling system has been done, front wheel bearings, 4 brand new 225/75/15 white wall tyres (tires) fitted, and now drives incredibly well. See the Fletch Imperial episode on Classic Restos. There is Part 1 & 2 - Many thanks, cheers Fletch.
Modifications
ZERO - apart from a 440 Magnum Camshaft on the rebuild to match the factory stock Magnum heads.
