History
There is just something about finding a classic from the USA. The cars were well powered, they were opulent, they had class, and hosted more features in the higher end range than what you would find from a manufacturer in any other country. Bang-for-the-buck, these American classics win all day long :-) The beauty of the American cars is they were built tough. Throw some dollars at them, and they remain reliable - giving you years of trouble free motoring.
Ok, down to business. Well this 1967 New Yorker was found in an old turkey shed in Ohio. She had not seen daylight for 16 years - until I came along in late 2016. This car was purchased from the car corral @ Carlisle Events Chrysler Nationals around the year of 2000. She was driven 6 hours back to Ohio @ 70-80 mph, didn't miss a beat, then parked up. It was purchased new in 67 by a lady, gracefully named Anna. Bless her heart, she was 37 years of age when she drove this amazing car away from the dealer in New Jersey. I have recently found that Anna passed away in 2016. She must have been a lady laced with style, because this classey car has many nice options. Over time, this car has never had paint. Close inspection shows NO overspray anywhere. Sure she has some dings & scrapes, but to me, these are original dings & scrapes...not tarted up by the last owner just to flip it out.
Under the dash is where I head, check that wiring !! it's easy to see if wiring work has been done. When all original looms are in place, no holes drilled, that is a great indication. Interior here on this car is where it rates. I would give her 95 out of 100. The only flaw (pardon the punn) is new floor carpets required, and I had a brand new front & rear section that have been installed. My aim is to keep this car original. I don't intend to do anything with the body (apart from a clean best I can) make the mechanicals 100% reliable, throw a club plate on her and enjoy :-) She already has a new fuel tank & dual exhaust, fitted in the USA before shipping to my garage. Years ago, it would have been a strip down by me, sand blast & full resto. But I really dig the patina, and these old rockets are only original once right?
oh, check the photos and see as she boards the transporter leaving Ohio, gathering snow on her paint for the last time. Thanks, Fletch :-)
