History
Less than 360 Toyota Crown S were built in 1966, approx 27 came to Australia. The normal Crown had a Bench seat, column shift, standard long speedo no tacho etc. The Crown S had 20hp more output (to 92kW) via a different Cam profile and the addition of Twin SU type (Hitachi) carburettors, an external engine oil cooler, full round dial instrumentation including a Tacho, bucket seats, floor stick shift 4 speed, disc brake assisted in the front instead of drums.. The engine bottom end is essentially similar to the 2000GT sports car of the time but with triple carbs and Twin cams.. This car now runs having the top end rebuilt, currently the brakes are being sorted then it will be time for a tidy up including repaint in Lily White but in 2 Pak.. The interior will then receive similar attention. Being such a rare car and virtually unknown to most car enthusiasts it is well worth preserving it for future reference in the history of Toyota sports sedans.
Modifications
The original wheels and hubcaps are unobtainium so after market alloys of the period will be sought..
