History
I was given this car when I was 16 as a paddock bomb. When I got my licence I drove mum's and dad's car around but decided I really needed something of my own. As a uni student I didn't have much money so I decided to get this running. We removed the side trim, patched up a few dents and rust spots (but overall the car was i great condition) and painted it the Ford colours of the mid 80's called Charcoal. It went great with the red interior, we added some red pinstripes and Cortina TF wheels and she looked great. Mechanically the engine was shot so I managed to buy a real rust bucket Hunter GT which had a fully refurbished engine in it. So I used that engine, with a few modifications (in the Hunter it is mounted on a slant, in the Minx it is upright). It was a challenge but we got it to run pretty good, had to replace the twin carb setup with a single Weber but that was OK.
This Hillman was my daily driver for 4 years, only sold it because we had a baby and it had no rear seatbelts so we couldn't fit a baby capsule in it! I needed the money at the time, but as always I wish I never got rid of it...no idea what became of it, probably ended up as scrap metal unfortunately.
Modifications
Repainted Charcoal with red pinstripes down the side, Cortina TF alloy wheels, 1725 alloy head motor, SAAS steering wheel, self made centre console
