History
I am the third owner, the previous owner used the wagon to pickup and deliver dry cleaning around Fyshwick A.C.T. The original owner was a young couple, possibly a tradie, as the marks on the gutter chrome, indicate a ladder rack was used. I stripped the vehicle in 2003/2004 bead blasted back to bare metal, had it primed and resprayed ultra white (it was white originally). The rebuild included a 2502V 6cylinder motor(which came with the wagon, as a spare motor.) A T5 gear bow was sourced and installed, in place of the Toploader 4 speed, which was stollen, from where it was in storage. The vehicle was rebuilt with new and nos parts or reconditioned existing parts. Thus when finished it drove like a new vehicle. It is a joy to drive, having traveled 27,000 kms since December 2004. All the Fairmont chrome (original) was put back on, as it was in reasonable condition. The only rust that had to be removed was the tailgate (a new ute skin was used). Also the lower left front mudguard was replaced, the rest of the wagon was in really good condition for it's age according to the boys that did the prep. and paint job for me. The Wagon is garaged in the garage next to my 1971 XY Falcon Sedan, which is a 250 six cylinder (original motor) rebuilt by the previous owner. Has a C4 auto gear box,(original). This vehicle is being maintained in original condition, has original bench seat. Has had some paint repair done.
Modifications
Rack and pinion power steering, XW, also a sports dash with VDO gauges installed.
The XY is as it came out of the factory, except it runs dual fuel, (installed by the previous owner) as was the underdash air conditioner.
