Victorian State Cup - Black Plate - Mildura.

Race Report

Victorian State Cup  (Black Plate) – Mildura - KA3 Junior.

We started the 5.5 hour trip to Mildura brimming with confidence after just securing the SA Black plate.

Qualifying; Emerson was on the pace straight away & sitting in P2 for most of the session. A stunning last lap was all it took to secure his first pole position for the year.

Heat 1; The start went to plan with Emerson grabbing the lead from pole, after that it was just about maintaining the lead, which he did through to the finish.

Heat 2; Emerson got a good start but was passed into turn 3, he decided to sit in second until the last corner of the last lap where the Shannons backed driver went for the lead & made in stick.

Heat 3; A challenge from the driver starting out of P2 saw Emerson in second place but only until the last corner where he made a strong move to take the lead and stay there for the rest of the race.

Heat 4; With the other drivers starting to make challenges, Emerson knew this would be his toughest heat, the Shannons backed driver made a great start & really never looked back. A great run in the heats but now the all-important final for a Black Plate.

Final; Once again starting off pole, in P2 the number 2 junior driver in Australia looking to make up for a disappointing qualifying result. The start was clean with the boys determined to race it out over the 16 laps. Emerson was leading but the gap had been reduce to .4 of a second, around lap 9 The Shannons Team driver put the foot down increasing the lead with every lap going on to win by over 2 seconds. 

So that was a clean sweep, 4 heat wins & the final add a fastest lap in the final. This win topped off a fabulous 3 weeks in the kart for Emerson with 2 State Cups & 2 Black Plates.
