History
Ellie’s Story – 1967 GT500 Eleanor
Ellie started off as a Brittnay Blue 1967 Ford Mustang, exactly what we had been searching for quite a while. This beauty had just been imported from Missouri, and she had all the matching numbers, paperwork and even the magazines showing her as a nine time show winner, beautifully restored and one of the top trophy winners belonging to the McCoys, who are members in the Mustang Owners Club of America.
Ellie’s, then restoration was even featured in the August 1992 American Mustang Monthly Magazine.
My husband and I had always loved the shape of the 1967 Mustang Fastback and when we saw her advertised we both knew that we had to have her.
We purchased Ellie in February 2012 and upon our inspection the car seemed to be in reasonable condition – Well, we were mistaken. We brought the Mustang home and got our Roadworthy certificate and all seemed to be good, so we thought.
We booked in for a new exhaust system and wheels, and this is where all the defects within the bodywork were pointed out. We now had to make a decision whether or not to sell her or commit to restoring her and we both agreed to go ahead with the full and a total nut and bolt restoration which commenced in April 2013.
My husband knew my love for the movie Gone in 60 seconds and we discussed turning our 1967 Ford Mustang to portray the Shelby GT500 Eleanor featured in the movie “Gone In 60 Seconds”. I wanted my Ellie to be a little bit different and I allowed my imagination to run wild and Google became my best friend.
We drive her to all Club runs and shows and love cruising the streets of Melbourne and country Victoria so she is a driven not hidden vehicle. She has brought us and many others so much joy over the years and I am so glad we decided to give her a new life.

In the boot of the Shelby GT500, Street sound and Vision (SSV) custom made an enclosure to house the 2 Alpine type R 10” subwoofers.
The enclosure was specifically designed a particular size and specification to achieve the best audio response.
SSV created something that was subtle and suited the vehicle.
Together we ultimately decided to go with the strip theme that continued into the boot install.
The amplifiers were hidden away, as they would clash with a retro look of the vehicle.
