History
I bought this car around 2006, stock standard G161Z 4spd, besides a few interior accessories. It was originally Atlantis blue, but the paint soon developed crows feet and rust. I lowered the car on King Springs and fitted Cheviot 13x6 mags, and drove it daily for a few years before it was defected. During the vehicle inspection, they uncovered rust on the back corners of the engine bay which would need to be welded up. Back then I lacked the funds to pay someone else to fix her, or the skills to do it myself. I borrowed a welder and some tuition from my good friend and former landlord, stripped the car and set about the "labour of love" - fixing a car that could easily be re-shelled for $500. I had always intended to build her similar to a Japanese-spec PF60 "ZZ/R" or "ZZ/T" Gemini - not an exact replica, but the sort of tweaked example you might find prowling the streets of Tokyo. I bought a G180W twincam Gemini engine with factory EFI, imported a matching 5spd gearbox with factory remote short shifter and centre console to suit, imported a limited slip diff, fitted vented front brakes (vented rears also waiting to go on). I plated all of the rust, had the roof lining and dash retrimmed in black vinyl for a factory look, and sourced other black interior items. After thorough measuring, I ordered custom sized Work Equip 01 wheels in 15x7.5" front, 15x8" rear. I have a round headlight grille, air conditioner and a set of Koni Red shock absorbers to go in also. I obtained an application to modify the vehicle for the above, and she's nearing completion. I had to divert time to my drift car, but hope to get back to this one very soon.
