History
Original owner Lionel March, long time member of the Triumph Sports Owners' Association, used the Spitty as a road car and in Marque Sports Car Association sprints in Victoria. Ian Cowie rebuilt it in the late '90s as a competition car (Group Sb - Production Sports Cars). I purchased it in 2006 and after some problems with head gaskets and finding someone who knew anything about building Spitfire engines, its returned to Melbourne. Its recently rebuilt the engine is producing good (flat) torque and reasonable power.
It's not the fastest car in Sb but its great fun to drive. Its a bit like a go kart so you have to be more precise than with the Dolomite Sprint!
