History
This Speed 20 came to Australia in 1968. When purchased in 1986 it was in pieces and had been shortened by 11 inches. No doors, hood, seats, landau irons, windscreen pillars and many small metal items missing. The engine was out of the car with pistons hanging out of the block. Restoration to original by Sleeping Beauties in Brisbane took six years. It is one of two "Short boot" Charlesworth three position drophead coupes in Australia. Alvis were famous for long bonnets. The measurement from the front bumper to the windscreen is half the length of the car.
This car came with the worlds first all syncro four speed gearbox, one shot lubrication, inboard jacking system and independent front suspension. The low profile gives incredible handling on twisty roads.
