History
Owning a car was a major achievement when I was a girl. My father was very proud of his car which was a Ford but I liked the Holden. I never thought I would be able to afford a car, they were just too expensive and my first wage of Five pounds, fourteen shillings and sixpence didn't leave enough over to save for such a luxury. In 1972, when I was 25, my brother in law had this beautiful powder blue FJ Holden. It had been lovingly restored and stood in our drive-way gleaming and bright with its highly polished Duco and all the chrome work silver and shinning even on the dullest of days. He even let me drive it and I loved the way it handled, the synchronised gears in second and top and plenty of power when it took off. Well that's how it seemed to me in my limited understanding of cars of the day. When my brother in law upgraded he very kindly sold me this dream car for the huge sum of $500.00 and I loved it. I thought I was in heaven and offered to drive anyone anywhere any time. Any excuse to be behind the wheel of this jewel on wheels. Sadly my brother in law thought he had the right to borrow my beloved car one night when he was very drunk, he drove it into a lamp post and that was the end of that. I have never forgotten my first love even though now, like my father before me, I have changed my preference to Ford's, my first car still holds a special place in my heart.
Modifications
By the time I got my 'Blue Heaven' it was one colour, a rich powder blue, highly polished, still with all its chrome trims and other original specifications
