History
The car started as a 351 with only 21000 miles. The 1972 Gran Torino only ran production for one year as the US Government changed the law regarding curved bumper bars and from 1973 bumper bars need to be straight.
Modifications
In September 2014 my brother and I bought the 1972 Gran Torino which had a Boss 429 Engine installed. The Boss 429 engine displacement has been increased to 520 cubic inchs. Our car had been fitted with four wheel cross drilled disc brakes. Along with a five speed Tremec, which can capably deliver 600lbs of torque which makes driving a breeze. The Gran Torino is now equipped to perform, handle, brake, challenging features for the engineers of the original Boss 429 program.
The cars exterior and interior was tired and the Boss 429 engine needed more development which included a new oil pump from Jon Kaase, a Milodon high-capacity sump as well as an engine oil cooler, Davies Craig digital thermostat, and reserve vacuum tank being installed also installed was a 3 inch DPE exhaust.. The ram air induction was correctly commissioned as was a new interior and body duco as well as NASCAR type decals.
This 1972 Gran Torino is very special, with a Boss 429 engine and a tribute to Torino's that were raced in NASCAR with Boss 429 engines.
