Genuine VC HDT (Build # 248) from Peter Brocks HDT Special Vehicles, aka Black Betty.
One of approximately 77 Tuxedo Black VC HDTs out the 500 numbered build.
VC HDT #248 was completed in March 1981, initially allocated to John Martin Motors Pty Ltd, 132-140 Sturt St South Melbourne but sold to Boyanton Holden Bentleigh.
Was first registered on 30/6/81 as XX 007 (was the Dealer Principle, Hugo Geri personal number plate) and used as his daily driver until sale in October 1981.
New car pre delivery was signed off by Bob Jackson, Service manager, on 10/10/81 and registration transferred to BFF 190 for sale on 14/10/81. New car salesman was John Taranto.
Dealer Options; Skytop Electric sunroof and door/side rubber strip moulds.
Whilst in first owners possession all services were done by HDT Special Vehicles, initially at 79 and then at 36 Leveson St North Melbourne. (10-40K services)
Sold to Denis Oliver Motors (Oakleigh) HDT Approved Dealer in 1987.
Traded in on new VL Walkinshaw by 2nd owner at Kevin Dennis Holden in 1989.
BB has had 6 owners and has been in the current owners possession since 2000
Modifications
Black Betty has all of the usual features found in a VC HDT.
Whilst in first owners possession was "HDT Improved".
Modifications were overseen by Phillip Brock & Craig Fletcher.
Group 3 Bonnet scoop (Active, with hole cut in bonnet)
Ram air induction, HDT embossed fibreglass round air box with cut down decaled (HDT Improved by HDT Special Vehicles) metal V8 air cleaner lid.
Engine (Inlet manifold #92015955-machined in carburettor area and port matched, hand finished/machined heads-10:1 compression ratio, HDT valves and springs, double row timing gear and chain, extractors (VHT white) and low restriction (VH GP3) exhaust system, hi-volume L34 fuel pump, baffled/windage tray sump and heavy duty 80 amp alternator
Modified TH350 Transmission and shift assembly (B&M Shift Kit Stage 2)
Long range 90 litre tank
130W headlamp globes and relay
Repainted in 2 Pack Tuxedo Black paint (Dulux Acran) including door handles
Engine was rebuilt in 2004, validating all of the above modifications.
As part of the rebuild a HDT High Output Auto spec cam was fitted.
Otherwise BB remains in original, post HDT spec, unrestored condition.
