History
This is my 2nd car, purchased around 16 years ago. At the time it was modified to Group A rally specification (basically, PRC - Production Rally Car). I purchased it to get into motorsport but became a father not long afterwards. The Datsun sat in the shed for 8-9 years, only to be dragged out and converted to a tarmac car, and has been used in supersprints / hillclimbs / regularity ever since. Highlight so far was doing the FoSC event at Mt Panorama in 2010.
Modifications
Datsun L18 engine (carefully rebuilt with basic mods - higher compression, cam, ported, bigger valves, etc) produsing 102 hp
Twin 1 3/4" SU carbs
Nissan S15 6 speed gearbox (used as a close ratio 5 speed by ignoring 1st gear)
Subaru RX turbo diff (LSD)
240K front struts / brakes, 240Z finned alloy rear drums
Tokico Prodra-G "green" shocks and strut inserts, lengthened lower control arms
Stripped interior / race seat / harness
All up, a fairly simple setup with the emphasis on handling rather than horsepower
