History
Flashpoint 1980 Shovelhead Chopper
I built Flashpoint as my own personal ride, and the bike features a lot of personal touches in the form of a number of one-off specially fabricated parts.
Check out the very individual fuel tank, which I called the AFU (All F...ed Up) tank! The oil tank, front and rear fenders, sissy bar, seat and seat pan, exhaust pipes (with Maltese Cross tips) and all the chromed detailed bits are custom made one-offs, too.
Other stand-out features on this bike include the under tree handle bars (which I call 'down-under bars'!), and distinctive mesh stone guard.
LEDs are built into the rear fender (the tiny triangle shapes at the trailing edge of the rear fender) and swing arm, which has been made to fit a 200mm tyre.
The finishing touch - and a very personal one - on the cap for the fuel tank (which is made from a gear from the gear box) is my last dollar coin, which i’ve glued to the centre.
For power, Flashpoint uses a 1200cc worked and fully polished engine with a 3" Primo belt drive and polished 4 speed 'box. The bike is kickstart only.
The whole project took 3 months - on and off - to complete.
In February, 2007, at the Orange County Choppers show in Sydney, Flashpoint was judged best of show by the Teutuls - Paul Sr & Jr and Mikey.
Danny was one of the very few who got to go backstage and spend some time with the O.C.C. guys, all of whom loved the amount of fabrication work in Flashpoint and the fact that no off-the-shelf parts were used.
