Modifications
Getting Started -
The body was good for age of car & had all original metal. The shell
was all stripped to bare metal including inside boot engine bay &
under carriage on a rotisserie. Underside has been painted in two pack
gloss black. Exterior had the "Eleanor" fibreglass kit fitted then the
car was painted in the superb Dupont pepper grey metallic with the
black racing stripes. The clear was then wet rubbed & another clear
was flow coated over the car giving it great shine & depth. Engine bay
is painted in a two pack gloss black.
As with the movie car fuel cap is a flip style from the early 70's
model Mustang & relocated to the upper rear quarter panel. PIAA lights
have been fitted to the front & H4 headlights have also been fitted.
Rear tail lights are the Shelby style with sequential LED's fitted.
Engine -
Although the car was a factory big block the car now runs a very
strong little 347 Windsor. Starting with a brand new Ford racing Boss
302 Block a Scat strocker crank & rods were balanced & fitted. Cam is
a very healthy solid giving a great note & performance. Heads are
brand new Edelbrock's fitted with roller rockers. A B&M supercharger
was added for great looks & performance & a HP Holley to top it all
off which fits nicely under the bonnet. Ignition is done with a MSD
6AL & matched to an MSD Dizzy. Fuel is delivered by a high volume
mechanical fuel pump through alloy fuel line. Custom alloy drop tank
build in the USA hold the fuel in the rear. The motor has already been
run in on an engine dyno producing 550HP with 4 pounds of boost with a
pulley change should make a little over 6 pound. Just in case that is
not enough the car also has a 150HP nitros kit with the go baby go
switch on the gear stick.
Exhaust -
System cost about $6000.00 alone with tuned length, large primary
ceramic coated extractors. Exhaust is a twin three inch stainless
steel system with a Gonzo & stainless muffler on each side & those
cool exhaust tips exiting the side of the car through the rear sill
panels.
Transmission / Right Hand Drive / Brakes -
Backing up this tough Windsor is a brand new TKO 600 Tremek five speed
gearbox rated at 1000hp, Lakewood bell housing, centre push hydraulic
clutch & extreme clutch. Rear end is of coarse the always reliable
Ford nine inch fully rebuilt with 3.5:1 gears & 28 spline LSD.
Eleanor has been converted to right hand drive using an RRS rack
conversion kit & a stainless steel IDIDIT tilt steering column. Front
brakes are huge Willwood rotors coupled by six piston callipers, rear
brakes are Falcon disk brakes. The rear suspension is all custom made
3 link style running QA1 coil over shocks giving adjustable height &
dampening. A sub frame connection kit has also been added for greater
body rigidity giving superior handling. Large front sway bar & engine
bay strut rods also help keep the front end under control.
Interior -
Is mainly done to factory deluxe 1967 standard including moulded door
trims with stainless steel inserts, dash bezels all converted to right
hand drive re chromed & stainless steel fitted including signature
from Carol Shelby himself with certificate of proof. Seats are the
original with the very hard to find plastic backs with stainless steel
mouldings on the side. Console is custom built but with Shelby design
in mind with air craft missile switch to arm Nitros system. Custom
alloy gear stick holds the go baby go shift knob. Door scuff plates
are custom style with illuminated horses when doors are opened. Also
with safety in mind it has a 2 point Roll cage. Full custom Clarion
stereo system is filled with twin amps in the boot, sub box & two subs
and custom front kick panel to house speakers.
