History
The Daimler SP250 was my dream car when I was an apprentice toolmaker, even though I had a 1956 Triumph TR3. In 2011, I got the opportunity to purchase our second SP250 and had a dream to install a 4.5 litre Majestic Major V8 motor in it. Over many years, the process has included importing the motor from America, and purchasing aTremec T56, 6 speed manual gearbox, Borg Warner 4 pin LSD BA Ford XR6 Turbo differential and Nissan Skyline R31 rotors and brakes on the rear. I modified the sump to allow the motor to sit lower in the engine bay so the carburettors would not foul the bonnet. I also modified the chassis to take the gearbox and upgraded the front springs 30%. Unfortunately, I had to modify the firewall to accept the longer motor. I've manufactured many of the necessary parts including rack and pinion steering, larger aluminium fuel tank, set of extractors, hood bows, hood clamps, rear bumper overriders and transmission tunnel, to name a few. the car is painted in Mazda Soul Crystal Red and the car should be legally on the road in the not too distant future.
