History
The car was produced in the Van Nuys Chrysler plant and has always been in California, having been purchased new by a man who owned a service station on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks. I bought if from the gentleman who found it at an estate sale, so covered in dust you couldn’t tell what color it was. Being a late in the model year “Spring Special,†this car combines the trim and paint schemes of the St. Regis and the Newport to produce a striking two tone exterior that is rarely seen. 1955 was the first year of the iconic Forward-Look design also seen in the first 300.It did get featured in an REO Speedwagon music video in 1987 called “That Ain’t Love,†for which it was again covered in dust. It has also had some background bits in TV and films. Mostly it has been in a garage according to the seller. It also survived a very close call with the Tea Fire in November 2008, and appeared in a CBS news report with a fireman hosing down a fire just yards from it. After this the roof was painted due damage from embers. Here the link to the film clip:http: //www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=F1-85w628oQ
