History
Initially purchased new by my Dad from Theiss Toyota in Townsville in 1977, numerous trips to Cape York, and all over the top end of North Queensland and beyond. I purchased the vehicle from the old man, and moved to Brisbane with the Tojo, before heading out to blaze trails in the Northern Territory, and beyond. Sold in 1997
Modifications
Huge modifications, only Toyota I knew at the time could do 4 wheel burnouts, huge 450 Holly Carby, worked port and polished head, with extractors, heavy machined clutch for quick takeoffs, and she could easily achieve 140kms and beyond, the speedo only went to 140Km? Very scary ride at those speeds, front wheel wobble at speed above 100Km? Toyo all terrain tyres, and an extra 100ltr stainless fuel tank in the rear, for a total: 160ltrs of fuel, about 400+ Kilometers range on a good day. The old Man had custom made foldable seating in the rear of the vehicle, easily seating 7 people 3 x front, and 4 in back, made of marine grade stainless steel frame, and vinyl covered foam seats and backing, very comfortable actually!
The spotlight on the front, was an actual aircraft landing light, giving exceptional lighting for nearly a kilometre ahead, good for seeing animals and obstacles early. The light required its own battery source, as it took a toll on the car electrical system otherwise.
