History
I don't know a whole lot about this one, other than the previous owner bought it in country Victoria about 8 years ago.
I drove up to Warooka, Yorke Peninsula to see it after being given a lead by some Land Rover enthusiasts. The 80 year old owner has been driving Land Rovers exclusively since he was 18. He's travelled all over Australia in Series Landies, including across the Simpson. He's got a garage full of 'em but decided to let this daily driver go because it's just getting a bit much for he and his wife, so they bought a more modern Defender instead. He has kept his 'special' cars, the 2A military, early S1, and a couple more Series projects to keep him busy.
I spent a good amount of time inspecting it for the usual chassis and bulkhead rust, and only found a little bit around the window vents. It has the original 2.25 petrol engine, which runs beautifully. The Fairey overdrive seems to be in good nick, a bit noisy but that seems to be normal.
I'm looking forward to taking the top off in the summer and exploring more tracks around SA with the family.
