History
rescued off a young guy that was driving into the ground.I got it for a reasonable price but had to do a complete front end rebuild(nolathane bushes),Tie rods,Ball joints etc.Every gasket on engine and trans was leaking so replaced all gaskets.Trans oil was a bit dirty so done a trans service. Then the rear bushes needed doing so replaced all with nolathane and the brakes were non existant so done 4 rotors and pads and front bearings. Also the MAF sensor was filthy so cleaned that up and got instant acceleration improvement,So ended up costing a couple of thousand just to get it back up to scratch but havent had a problem since. It is a 94 NCII in Polynesian blue. Here are some facts on this model Fairlane:
NC Fairlane/DC LTD (1991-1995)
1991 was the year that V8s returned to Ford. The DC LTD came with the fuel injected 5L V8, which managed 165kW, while the 3.9L six remained standard on the NC Fairlane.nJust like years gone by, there were now two Fairlane models to choose from: Fairlane and Fairlane Ghia.
The basic Fairlane was hard to pick from the previous NA model, it had new alloy wheels. The Fairlane Ghia had distinctive alloy wheels and clear front indicators. The DC LTD had clear front indicators and body-coloured side strips.
After less than a year, the cars were updated with Series II. Anti-lock brakes were introduced and they were standard on every model. As with the EB Falcon, the 3.9L was replaced by a quieter 4.0L, which produced 148kW of power and 348Nm of torque. There were upgraded sound systems and all cars got new lounge-style front seats. Tickford Vehicle Engineering was established, so Fairlane buyers could opt for Tickford Touring Suspension, five spoke 16 inch alloy wheels, Michelin tyres and a Momo steering wheel, to give their car a sporting feel.
In early 1993, all cars got the new Smartlock security system with Tibbe locks and an immobiliser, and then a lap sash rear seatbelt became standard. In August 1993, the Fairlane was discontinued; it was back to one model the Fairlane Ghia. Fairlane was further improved in March 1994, when it gained a leather bound steering wheel, new design alloy wheels and a bonnet ornament.
How do I know its an NC? Almost unchanged from NA. Fairlane has new alloy wheels and amber front indicators, Fairlane Ghia has new alloy wheels, clear front indicators and body-coloured mirrors. Series II has more modern looking stereo. Body-coloured door handles added sometime in 1993. May 1994-: Revised alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers and side strips, bonnet ornament. How do I know it’s a DC? Almost unchanged from DA. Some early cars have black door handles. Clear front indicators, body-coloured side strips, C-pillar window louvres. Modifications
Lowered about 1 inch, sports springs and shocks.Chrome engine cover,J3 chip, electronic shiftkit,1/2 inch plenum to manifold spacer.Extractors and 3 inch sports system. Also has LTD front grille and LTD rear garnish. In the interior I have put green LED globes in the istument cluster and Ford logo lights under front doors that shine onto the ground below. Before fitting the J3 chip it made 123.4rwkw on the dyno,I havent had dyno again yet but there is a noticable improvement to idle and acceleration and slight horsepower gain.Keen to get it back on the dyno.
